The purpose being lifestyle expectations, you\u2019ll want to have the future hammered inside your mind, so you don\u2019t lose track of things on the way there. Plus, knowing what you want during your later years will indicate how hard you have to work now and how smart you\u2019ll need to be with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/articles\/investing\/030116\/portfolio-diversification-done-right.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">portfolio management and diversification<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Settling Down and Starting A Family: A good place to start is asking yourself if you want to settle down and start a family. Family life isn\u2019t for everyone, so be honest with yourself if you want to have your own kids. If the answer is no, then you can focus your money management strictly on yourself. If the answer is yes, then you\u2019ll need to think of long-term housing, education for your kids, and more.<\/li>\n<li>Living Off Your Investments &amp; Savings: Another important thing to consider is where do you plan to get money to live off of during your later years.
